SC Asset Partners with Creative Collaborators to Share Innovative Ideas in the Kaset-Bang Bua Area through the COBE Condo for the New Generation at Bangkok Design Week 2024
SC Asset x Bangkok Design Week 2024 collaborates to transform the 'Kaset-Bang Bua' area into a livable everyday-scape for everyone through various activities, art exhibitions, film screenings, creative markets, and musical performances by students and numerous artists during the Bangkok Design Festival 2024, under the theme 'Livable Scape: The More People Create, the Better the City'. This event takes place at the COBE Kaset-Sri Phatum condo project.
The core of Bangkok Design Week 2024 is to convey the concept of ‘Livable Scape: The More People Create, the Better the City’. The festival aims to be a platform inviting creatives from all fields to collaborate in building a city that is good for both body and soul, and well-designed, which aligns with the goals of SC Asset, a leading real estate development company committed to enhancing quality of life, allowing people to enjoy living in homes or condos that meet their lifestyles.

As an organization that has always recognized the importance of design and promoting a community of creatives, SC Asset has continuously participated in and supported the Bangkok Design Week. Ms. Joon - Chomchada Kuldeelok, Head of Brand Strategy and Corporate Communications, shared insights on the overall concept of the festival:
“SC Asset sees the need to build relationships with the surrounding community in areas where we develop real estate. We believe this festival should belong to everyone in Bangkok, not just limited to the Charoen Krung area. Since last year and this year, we have tried moving projects outside the main event zones. Last year, we held activities in the Wongwian Yai area, and this year we are in the Kaset-Bang Bua area, featuring many experimental projects from students. We want to provide opportunities for the younger generation to showcase their potential and encourage more people to see their work.”
“Bangkok Design Week is one of the channels to communicate what our organization values, covering various topics such as the environment, technology and innovation, and design. We believe everything can be designed, even solutions for daily life. We see that the younger generation is increasingly valuing these issues, which is a positive direction. We want them to remember that the SC Asset brand also prioritizes these matters.”

Collaborating to Create a Livable City that Meets Lifestyle Needs
This mission cannot be accomplished alone; it requires collaboration from all parties to create a good living ecosystem. This year, SC Asset collaborates with creative partners in the Kaset-Bang Bua area, joining hands with universities, academics, designers, artists, and the community to organize various interesting activities that open up the area for the public to discover another facet of the city, filled with many hidden stories. The key figure driving the activities in this area is Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthawut Asavakowitwong, Director of the Bangkok City Lab, who provides an intriguing overview of the area.

Harnessing the Energy of the Younger Generation to Share Ideas for Urban Change
With the understanding that this area is surrounded by educational institutions, the main activities in the Kaset-Bang Bua area consist of three main components. The first is creating a Third Place that offers relaxing entertainment activities such as music performances and film screenings, providing options for spending leisure time with friends and fostering dialogue and interaction among student groups, serving as an oasis for enjoyment after classes.
The second component focuses on the theme ‘Livable Scape: The More People Create, the Better the City’, aiming to create change that makes the city safer and more convenient to navigate. This involves expanding the design work from City Lab regarding pedestrian safety on the roads into a prototype project for managing public sidewalk spaces and improving public transport services, including more convenient motorcycle taxi waiting points.
The third component is the Academic Program, inviting students from nearby universities to collaborate on new projects, providing them with a platform to express themselves and participate in the festival. This includes a variety of works ranging from design showcases, music, films, to business model proposals.
Public Experimental Spaces in the Area
Most of the highlight activities in this area are held around Kasetsart University, Sripatum University, and the COBE Kaset-Sri Phatum project, a new condo designed for a modern lifestyle, complete with a community for doing good and exchanging new ideas. Upon entering the COBE project, the first thing that catches the eye is the Bamboo Mache Modular, an eco-friendly bamboo architecture designed and constructed by Mr. Taab - Thanaphat Boonsanan, an architect specializing in bamboo work, who explains the design concept interestingly.

“Previously, when I designed works, I would create something suitable for the location. Once completed, I would store it at the office. Sometimes the property owner would request to use it further, or if it was a temporary installation, it would often be dismantled and become waste. This made me feel sorry for the bamboo. This year, I aimed to design a piece that can be used anywhere, like the Bamboo Mache Modular, which is the first project of the year that can be reused using a technique similar to paper mache, making the new piece stronger and reducing waste while allowing it to serve as a primary structure for future projects. My designs from the beginning to the end of the year will mostly be in this series. We want people to come and try out what designers have created and provide feedback on whether it works well or not, so we can use that information to improve future works. I want the Kaset-Bang Bua area to be an example of a place where we can create new stories in areas that are not old cities and do not have as much historical background as other areas.”
The highlight activities at Bangkok Design Week 2024 at the Sales Gallery COBE Kaset-Sri Phatum from January 27 to February 4, 2024 include Bamboo Mache Modular (The Virtual Garden of Bang Bua), an eco-friendly bamboo architecture designed to experiment with relaxation spaces and inspire with future materials, Audio & Lighting Stage (The Sound and Light Stage of Bang Bua), featuring live music from various artists and Projection Mapping, Outdoor Cinema (Movies in Bang Bua), a film festival and outdoor screenings, YoUTH{TAK} Food Truck, a community food and snack market, and Lively Street Furniture (Beautiful Streets of Bangkok).
